cafe mama

entering the mind of the married mom

The crocuses are peaking out from their rainy leaves, the trees are hinting at the blossoms to come, and today, Portland gay couples for the first time were permitted to marry. Love is in the air.

Yeah, I'm firmly heterosexual, a not a little religious, but I am eternally committed to the rights of people to express their love and to share in the societal benefits afforded men and women who choose to marry. I believe in love.

I spent an hour in front of the Multnomah County building that issues marriage licenses (and where I, just a year ago, procured my own marriage license) and shot some photos. These are from the digital camera...I'll post the ones from my film camera this evening (after a trip to the photo place and track practice).

like to receive a copy of a photo you were in? let me know. Also, one person waiting in line told me I should be asking permission ... I'm sorry if you were uncomfortable with having your photo taken, I'd be happy to remove any photos. Just shoot me an email. (and I apologize for not asking permission, I'm a little shy, and there were tons of photographers around shooting away, not to mention TV crews galore)
